Paris pulsates with energy, both day and night. However, above all, it's the capital of France and its streets are haunted by the ghosts of historical figures. As you pass between two underground stations, you may traverse a place where history was written. Place de la Bastille serves as a poignant example, once the site of the Bastille jail that was overtaken by Parisians during the French Revolution. This pivotal event occurred on July 14, 1789, now celebrated annually as the French National Day. Overnight: Paris

Day 2: Paris — Live the Parisian life

The beginning of your second day in Paris begins with a delightful and authentic French croissant-making class – what better way to start the day? After indulging in these tasty treats, your exploration of Paris unfolds, from the iconic Louvre, a former royal castle transformed into one of the most significant museums today, to the Musee d'Orsay, once a train station and now a museum that showcases Paris's ability to reinvent itself and its magnificent buildings. Day 4: Bordeaux — Head to the West of France

It's time to depart Paris and head out into the provinces of France, as your historical adventure continues. Our driver will take you to the train station to embark on a 2-hour train ride to the French city of Bordeaux built on the Garonne Estuary. Bordeaux's historical significance in France spans centuries, from its pivotal role in the wine trade to its prominence as a key port city. Amble through the city center, which is all pedestrianized, take a stroll in Place de la Bourse, visit Bordeaux Cathedral, and explore the Palais Rohan. Overnight: Bordeaux

Day 5: Bordeaux — More than a City, a World-Class Wine

Today you'll be captivated by historical tales of Bordeaux and sample its culinary delights. Join our local expert Mark, with whom you’ll savour, discover, and learn about the finest local food. This approach offers the perfect blend of exploring the stunning old town of Bordeaux while also pausing along the way to taste the region's characteristic dishes. As if the food was not enough, it’s time for the wine degustation in the Cite du Vin. This place is like an amusement park for wine lovers! Day 6: Sarlat — A Jewel in France's Historical Tapestry

Today your family adventure through France takes to the road. After a good breakfast, pick up your rental car and embark on a self-drive of 30 minutes from Bordeaux to Sarlat in the nearby Dordogne. It was in this city that "La Marseillaise," the French national anthem, gained popularity during the French Revolution. After enjoying a seafood lunch in the Old Port of Marseille, the afternoon is dedicated to a boat tour from Cassis where you'll discover the dramatic and beautiful coves and cliffs of the Calanques National Park. Perhaps there'll be a chance to swim in one of the hidden coves. Back in Marseille, your final evening welcomes you with open arms. You might stroll along the bustling La Canebière or enjoy dinner at a seafront restaurant. Overnight: Marseille

Day 11: Marseille — Time to say “Au revoir”

And so, your historic journey across France and through the ages has come to an end and sadly it’s time for your family to say au revoir!
